Rebecca was born in Delaware 1831.Although she was born in Delaware she was raised in Pennsylvania . She was raised by her aunt ,who was dedicated to looking after the ill and curing the sick.At a young age rebecca was accepted into  New England Female Medical college.This was suprising because there was barely any medical schools and most did not accept african americans.

In Rebecca's lifetime she has accomplished several things.The two major ones include becoming the first african aemrican female doctor and becoming the first African American female to have a book published.She also over came racism and became the first african american woman to graduate from the new england female medical center.

Accomplishments

Dr.Rebecca Lee Crumpler was the first African American female doctor.Crumpler recieved her M.D at the New England Female Medical college in 1864.Upon graduating from New England Female Medical college,she became the first African American to graduate from there. Rebecca's "Book of Medical Discourses" is one of the first medical publications by an African American.

The Rebecca Lee Society was founded in 1989by two woman.It's purpose is to encourage and support African American physicians,such as Rebecca Lee Crumpler.

Dr.crumpler wrote a book of medical discourses.It was published in 1883.It was based on medical care for woman and children.
